Elevator compliance in Charlotte
Charlotte’s vertical transportation is concentrated and demanding: Uptown’s banking and corporate towers, the SouthPark and Ballantyne office markets, Atrium Health and Novant Health hospital campuses, UNC Charlotte and Johnson & Wales, a fast-growing stock of high-rise and mid-rise residential in South End and Uptown, and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, one of the busiest in the country, with escalators and moving walks that run from the first flight to the last.
North Carolina’s Department of Labor inspects this equipment through its Elevator and Amusement Device Bureau. Owners don’t hire the periodic inspector, but they are responsible for what the inspection finds, for correcting it and for the maintenance contract that determines who pays. Charlotte-metro owners with buildings in Fort Mill, Rock Hill or Indian Land also deal with South Carolina LLR, a second system with its own certificates.
How we help Charlotte owners and managers
Elevator Compliance Group is an independent, QEI-licensed inspection and consulting firm. We do not sell maintenance, repairs or modernization, so our work in Charlotte is only for the owner: inspections and inspection witnessing, review of inspection reports and violations, deficiency tracking to verified correction, maintenance contract review, modernization planning and owner representation when the contractor and the inspector disagree.
- Pre-inspection readiness and owner representation during NCDOL inspections
- Escalator and moving walk oversight for airport, transit and retail operators
- Hospital elevator compliance programs with accreditation-ready documentation
- Maintenance contract review and rebid support for Uptown and SouthPark portfolios
- Two-state compliance programs for owners with assets on both sides of the line
